I usually run a pure DM build, and whenever I'm not capping I'm usually /Me for the quick change to SS/SV.

Mine is uber-simple... maybe too simple. I MM as N/any, without any energy management or health sac problem. Max death magic, 12 soul reaping is all it takes...
- Vamp minions
- Bone Fiends
- Flesh Golem (e)
- BotM
- Soul Feast
- Optional
- Optional
- Res
The first health sacs aren't bad, so I deal with the natural health regen. When I have 5+ minions, I'm usually somewhere where there's a lot of bodies, so using BotM a few times + Soul Feast works, keeps me alive (Taste of Death can work too, especially on Golem, or if you don't mind saccing a minion). I sometimes take Putrid Explosion for more damage, Death Nova for dying minions... I could probably throw Dark Bond, but I usually manage fine without it... O_o

N/mo offers heal area and rebirth... enough said really. Not so important when there is plenty of bodies, but when you need to keep you minions alive for a period of time between fights, any other combination is worthless.

You don't need /mo to be a MM. But the power of Heal Area should not be understated. It's a strong self-heal that also serves as a secondary minion heal... preventing a MM shutdown if BotM get distracted.
Not saying the other classes are weak, but an N/Mo who know what he's doing can be extremely tough and resillient.

The whole "save time switching builds" issue will be moot when when Nightfall comes out anyway. The templates will allow you to change all your skills, attributes, and secondary class with 1 or 2 mouse clicks. This is reason enough in itself to purchase Nightfall.

Too bad it doesn't change equipment as well. I tire of switching Facial Scars and staves for all situations.
And Yes, I am that lazy!

No worries being N/Me at all for being an MM. I never change from N/Me (because I can't be bothered on a PvE-only char), so I run:
16 Death
13 SR
Animate Flesh Golem [Elite]
Animate Vampiric Horror
Animate Bone Fiends
Blood of the Master
Rez Sig
Verata's Sacrifice
Death Nova / Rotting Flesh
Taste of Pain / Deathly Swarm /Putrid Explosion
When with henches I tend to run:
16 Death
10 SR
10 Blood
Well of Power [Elite]
Animate Vampiric Horror
Animate Bone Fiends
Blood of the Master
Rez Sig
Verata's Sacrifice
Blood Ritual
Taste of Pain / Deathly Swarm /Putrid Explosion / Consume Corpse
Full Scar Pattern Armour, Morgriffs Cane, 15/-1 DM + 1 offhand.
Never had a problem with either build.

Haha, yeah, gets annoying to switch scars. I got 2 mules and I usually end up searching on both because I can never remember where I put the curse, then I switch to death and such... At least I stick with the same armor for SS and MM. It's just when I need to switch to 55 or SB that I find it even more annoying...
Build saving FTW. No need to set attributes manually for N/any MM/SS, N/Mo MM, N/Me SS, FoW N/Me SS, SB, 55... to many builds, so much time lost manually changing.

i got a necro for a long long time and i only switch to necro monk if i go as a order necro. since i am mostly a ss necro i am a necro/mesmer, and because i am to lazy to switch i stay like this, and there are enough necro skills to keep your health up.

To summarize most ppl would want a N/Mo in their teams esp for elite missions primarily for rebirth (heal area is as mentioned a good heal self and minions skill).
The downside of being a N/Me as an MM is that u cant rez (other than the rez signet). and thats a major issue in places like ToPK and Urgoz Warren.
As for Orders or BiP/OoP I would say a monk secondary would really make you much better capable of balancing out all the saccing.
